DS-CDMA frequency-domain equalization with inter-block interference suppression

Abstract In direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA), frequency-domain equalization (FDE) based on minimum mean square error (MMSE) criterion can be applied to exploit the channel frequency-selectivity and achieve a much improved bit error rate (BER) performance compared with the conventional rake combining. However, DS-CDMA with MMSE-FDE requires the insertion of guard interval (GI) to avoid the inter-block interference (IBI), thereby reducing the transmission-efficiency. In this paper, a new MMSE-FDE technique that requires no GI insertion is proposed and its BER performance is evaluated by computer simulation.
